Emergency Travel Certificate

EMERGENCY TRAVEL CERTIFICATE (FEE: £65.00)

To apply for an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) for travel to Ghana under an emergency situation, the following requirements and steps must be followed:

Eligibility:

  • The ETC is issued only to Ghanaian individuals not in possession of a Ghanaian passport who need to travel to Ghana in an emergency
  • It is valid for a single journey to Ghana only, usually valid for one month, and ceases to be valid once you enter Ghana.
  • Required Documents:

    Letter Requesting the Emergency Travel Document:

    • For Minors (children under the age of 18 years), a consent letter from the parents (persons whose names appear on the child's full birth certificate) or legal guardian is required.
    • Proof of Travel:

      • A ticket showing proof of travel to Ghana.
      • For medical cases, you need a letter from the hospital or GP.
      • Proof of Nationality:

        • A copy of your passport bio-data page or any other Ghanaian photo ID.
        • NOTE: Your Ghanaian passport must not have expired for more than a year. If it has been over a year since your passport expired, you will not be eligible for an ETC and may be required to renew your passport.

          Two Passport Photographs:

          Fees and Mode of Payment :

          • The fee is £65.00.
          • The amount could be paid via postal order (Payable to: Ghana High Commission UK) or card payment at the High Commission (No cash payments allowed).

            Opening days and time for submission : Monday to Friday, between 10 AM and 1 PM.
            SUBMISSION PERIOD: MONDAY TO FRIDAY FROM 10AM TO 1PM
