PRESENTATION OF LETTERS BY HIGH COMMISSIONER MRS SABAH ZITA BENSON, 1ST OCTOBER 2025, LANCASTER HOUSE, LONDON
The High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Mrs Sabah Zita Benson, presented her Open Letters to the Assistant Vice Marshall of the Diplomatic Corps, Eleanor Mackewn, on Wednesday, 1st October 2025, at Lancaster House, London. By the Host country arrangements, Her Excellency Mrs Sabah Zita Benson has formally assumed her duties as High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the United Kingdom, pending the presentation of her Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Charles III.
During the meeting with the Assistant Vice Marshall of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Zita Benson expressed appreciation to the Government of the United Kingdom for the warm welcome received upon arrival in the country on 20th September 2025. She recalled the historic bonds of friendship between the two countries and assured the UK of Ghana’s continued commitment to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
Highlighting her priorities, H.E. Zita Benson looked forward to deepening bilateral relations and the two governments working towards the implementation of the UK-Ghana Trade Partnership Agreement, to enhance economic cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries. She also identified building effective public-private partnerships and promoting tourism as key to advancing the economic diplomacy drive of the government of Ghana.
Acknowledging the recent visit to Ghana by the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, High Commissioner Benson noted the promotion of cultural exchanges and the official launch of the London to Accra Economic Growth Campaign as important steps towards enriching cooperation between the two countries and leveraging the shared asset of the British Ghanaian diaspora.
On her part, the Assistant Vice Marshall of the Diplomatic Corps, Eleanor Mackewn, expressed the pleasure of the UK Government to receive the new envoy and wished her a successful tour of duty. The Assistant Vice Marshall also indicated the Host country’s keenness in enriching the collaboration between the two countries and receiving ministerial visits, including one by the Foreign Minister of Ghana, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to advance further the bilateral engagements.
